Hockley Flyover Show

June 21st, 2009 · No Comments · Birmingham, News

I popped over to the Hockley Flyover show last Saturday to check out the Birmingham graffiti artists in comparison to Bristol’s offering at Upfest. The results were pretty outstanding and coupled with live music the show was a real creative triumph for Birmingham’s urban communities.

Hockley Flyover Show

In it’s second year The Hockley Flyover show is organised by Soweto Kinch a multi- award winning Jazz musician from Birmingham, showcasing art, creativity and music from the city and world wide.

The show takes place at the flyover, a key point in Birmingham’s geography; being at the heart of a divided community and home to the infamous postcode wars. The event aims to bring the arts and culture into the community as well as attempt to re claim the space whilst demonstrating an opposition to the current state. Take a peek at some of the pics generously donated to inkygoodness by Richard Spencer photography.
