Featured Artist: Alice Tye

Alice Tye skilfully uses oil paints and acrylics to create wonderful illustrations, influenced by modernist architecture and an eclectic taste in film.

Since graduating from Camberwell College of Art in 2013, she has been working tirelessly to further her freelance career – and it isn’t going unnoticed.

In the past year alone, Alice has been a part of six exhibitions, including ‘Secret 7’, ‘New Lithographers’ and ‘Pick Me Up Selects’. And has been featured in a plethora of wide-reaching publications, such as Wallpaper*, Guestbook magazine and Creative Review. She is also one eighth of Olio Studio; a group of Camberwell illustration graduates, working independently and collectively in South East London.

A highlight on her resume however, is being shortlisted for the V&A Student Illustration Award – for which she composed a series of lithographs that explored a sense of ‘place’; depicting scenes of a California of the imagination, known only through film, television and literature.

Alice is influenced by spaces and buildings, and her eclectic taste in film often transforms into scenes that communicate a feeling of unsettling tension.
