The Illustrated Interview with Bamse Ontwerpt & Muxxi

A twist on the traditional interview format, The Illustrated Interview features a double interview, as our artists each in turn play interviewer and interviewee.

Inviting each other to discuss their creative practice, share their stories and inspiration alongside a collaborative illustration created by Muxxi and Wijtze.

This year marks 7 years of Inkygoodness – an art & culture platform that we launched with the sole purpose of showcasing emerging talent in illustration. From our first sell-out London show ‘Play’ in 2010, to exhibiting on the Pictoplasma Character Walk, we’ve had the pleasure of working with some of the nicest and most talent artists in the industry.  What started as a small group show in Bristol with local creatives has taken us on an extraordinary journey – and we’ve loved every minute of it!

Our sister agency WE ARE GOODNESS is the next chapter in this journey. A creative agency representing international artists and illustrators, WE ARE GOODNESS aspires to produce innovative artwork for the advertising, editorial and publishing industries. Paper craft, typography, 3D illustration and character design, our talent roster presents a diverse portfolio of creatives from Europe and beyond.

As we prepare to launch a brand-new Inkygoodness site in 2017, we will continue to build on our existing merits, providing a offer a growing resource of insight and creative inspiration and share the artists we love most with the world – both online and in print.

The Illustrated Interview is a perfect example of that.

In this debut edition, we will be showcasing the work and story of two international talents: Dutch illustrator Wijtze Valkema, who discovered editorial illustration via his early career in graphic design, and Muxxi, a leading character designer and illustrator based in Guatemala City.

Lisa Hassell, Director at Inkygoodness

Within the walls of their home studios, our illustrators create unique artworks for a clients worldwide. Wijtze Valkema uses his ‘magical designing machine’ to create mid-century inspired illustrations that are bursting with colour and graphic shapes, whilst Muxxi’s unusual characters and creatures have given her a cult following around the world. Her quirky images speak of freedom and expressiveness and when she’s creating an illo – or even an imaginary world – her aim is to spread joy to whoever sees it.

A twist on the traditional interview format, The Illustrated Newspaper features a double interview, as our artists each in turn play interviewer and interviewee, inviting each other to discuss their creative practice, share their stories and inspirations alongside a collaborative illustration created by the pair.
