Wild and emotive illustrations by Alessandra Genulado

Italian-born, London based illustrator Alessandra Genulado takes inspiration from the wild complexities of lifestyle, human characteristics and emotion.

Providing a seemingly endless source of wonder and inspiration for Alessandra, these ideas take centre stage in her heartfelt and moving studies of human behaviour.

Combining collage and gouache her illustrations feel as though they celebrate the comfortably uncomfortable aspects of being human; whether it be depicting the simple act of walking the dog, of two women living together, or the challenges of writing a letter while living with a cat.

Her characters appear vulnerable, susceptible to these most mundane challenges, and it’s through this it’s easy to feel affected by them, empathise with them.

They exist within almost Lowry-esque landscape’s, that through simple palettes and sparse environments only further direct your attention to the people dwelling within them.
