Alex Bertram-Powell is a Bristolian illustrator and musician, who built his career designing gig posters. His characters come from dreams and a fascination with animals, anatomy and disease. In his own words “a recurring theme is the attempt at a sort of placid grotesqueness – people and monsters that are at peace with an outwardly uncomfortable state.” He creates his work with heavy pencil and ink, with bold digital colouring.

Alex is a member of Bristol-based monster prog band ANTA and the rather unhinged hobofolk septet Boxcar Aldous Huxley, performing Theremin as a soloist on the rare occasions he has any time left.

Alex is currently creating new illustrations for our next event – Character Totem Home-Coming, opening at the Zellig Gallery in Birmingham next week! Find out more here: Inkygoodness Character-Totem-Home-Coming Launch!
