Tiny Universe is the creation of designer and illustrator Simon Wild; a brand new online store created to “foster the imagination and creativity of young aspiring artists, illustrators and anyone wishing to put their imagination to good use”.

Primarily geared towards children, Tiny Universe is designed to grow into a hub that makes products to inspire and entertain; as well as providing a web platform for children to showcase their own artwork in an online gallery. The site also includes a shop containing illustrated products designed to fire the imagination such as story notebooks (above) and stickers.

Working out of his studio in Suffolk, Simon has long had a fascination with the power of the imagination and act of play, and was inspired to create Tiny Universe to celebrate this. His work is inspired by old toys, found objects, and travel, often exploring the connections that can be made between an inspiring location and the imagination. His work has often been described as ‘psychedelic scribbles’ ‘elaborate telephone doodles’ and ‘childlike expressions’. Simon likes to think of each new illustration he creates as making a new friend for life.

His clients including Macmillan Children’s books, the Big Chill Festival, Action Aid, ITV and Orient Express. His first illustrated book for children ‘Fantastical Flying Machines‘ was published by Macmillan Children’s Books in 2010.
