[First Thursdays] Have Fun // Charlotte Mei

Opening tomorrow at Boxpark, illustrator Charlotte Mei brings her own brand of kawaii illustration to first Thursdays in Shoreditch.

Her first solo exhibition HAVE FUN will a collection of brand new work pop-up exhibition exploring modern life and human nature with a subversive eye and ethos of playfulness.

Revellers can expect to get some work done on a ceramic Macbook, be stared at by a bear wearing a very pink t-shirt and maybe even come home with a new top for themselves.

Earlier this year we talked to Charlotte about her practice and how she began to combine illustration with ceramics along with where she found her inspired her to make new pieces. Being one of her biggest passions, music was one of these points of inspiration and has brought her to work with producers such as Hudson Mohawke.

The private view will have performances throughout the evening in the upstairs courtyard including Boen and Jack as well as a Live stream performance from previous collaborator Ryan Hemsworth

‘Have Fun’ is open daily, 11am – 7pm at Unit 26, Boxpark, Shoreditch, London. A private view will take place on the evening of Thursday 6rd of August. Drinks will be provided by Heineken.
