Simon David Mills is a Bristol based artist who enjoys nothing more than drawing characters and making quirky wooden cut-outs. He’s recently been to Farmfest in Bruton, where he attacked a car with spray cans and marker pens, alongside several new cut-outs.

Illustrator and designer Tad Carpenter got in touch with us recently to say that he loved our blog, and wanted to share some of his recent work with us. We were more than happy to receive his e-mail, not only because his illustrations are brilliant – but also because Tad lives all the way over in Kansas City, Missouri – which means we’ve finally broken America (sort-of!).

Papergirl, an art project from Berlin, is coming to Manchester for its UK début. In the style of American paper-boys, rolled art pieces will be distributed by bicycle on the streets of Manchester to passers-by.
Created by Aisha Ronniger in 2006 as a reaction to the discussion in the media about the tightening of graffiti laws to include paste ups, Papergirl has grown to be a worldwide project. From doodles to photography, and screenprinting to painting, anyone can participate! All work will feature in the Papergirl Manchester exhibition in September before distribution.
The call for submissions are now open! To submit up to 10 pieces of work or multiple copies, send an email with your name, city and a link to your website to papergirlmanchester@gmail.com then hand in your work at Nexus Art Cafe, Dale Street, Manchester, M1 1JW. Or post your work to Papergirl Manchester, 7 Ophthalmic Works, 2 Naples Street, Manchester, UK, M4 4DB. Deadline: 1st September 2010.
Papergirl is: participatory, analogue, non-commercial and impulsive. Distributed like a newspaper, the art rolls consist of prints, originals, photographs uniquely wrapped together to create a one-off combination of art works. The art rolls cannot be sold and they are delivered spontaneously to passers-by.
