21-Day Portfolio Boost Challenge – FAQ
We’ve had lots of questions about our upcoming 21-Day Portfolio Boost Challenge — and we’re here to help you decide if it’s right for you!
Whether you’re looking to refresh your portfolio, develop a new project, or finally bring that passion idea to life, this challenge is designed to help you focus, follow through, and create work you’re proud to share.
Below you’ll find answers to common questions about time commitment, how the challenge works, and what to expect when you join us!
Q: I’m new to illustration — can I still join?
Absolutely! The 21-Day Portfolio Boost Challenge is open to illustrators, designers, graphic artists, comic artists and creatives at any stage. You don’t need years of experience — just curiosity, commitment, and a desire to make something new.
Over 21 days, you’ll bring one creative project to life — whether that’s an illustrated zine, risograph poster series, set of prints, or your first merch collection. You’ll get prompts, structure, and support to keep you moving forward every step of the way.
Q: What kind of project can I work on?
You’ll choose a project that fits your creative goals and current skill level. We’ll share prompts and examples to help you decide — from self-initiated passion projects to portfolio-ready illustration pieces that show your voice, style, and ideas.
The goal is simple: finish one project you’re proud to share and learn strategies you can use to grow your portfolio long after the challenge ends.
Q: Who’s leading the challenge?
The challenge is hosted by Inkygoodness founder and creative coach Lisa Hassell, supported by Industry Live Stream Q&A’s from creative professionals including:
- Kathy Lee, Art Director at NYT Games
- Simon Landrein, Illustrator & Animator
- Bice Piana, Creative Producer & Artist Agent at Pocko
- Beth Wheatley, Creative Director at 1HQ (previously Vault49)
- Steph Ramplin, 3D Artist & Animator
- Maite Franchi, Illustrator
- Dan Smith, Creative Director at Deloitte Digital (previously Mother London)
& more TBA!
You’ll also get community feedback, accountability, and creative encouragement throughout the 21 days.
Q: I work full time — can I still take part?
Yes! The challenge is designed to be flexible and achievable alongside your work or studies. You’ll receive prompts and guidance via our online platform, with optional live sessions, recordings, and check-ins.
Expect to spend 2–4 hours per week developing your project — at your own pace.
Q: What if I fall behind or miss a live session?
No problem! You’ll have access to all replays, prompts, and resources for three months after the challenge ends. You can catch up anytime and still share your work for feedback inside the community.
Q: Do I need any specific skills or tools?
A basic familiarity with creative tools like Procreate, Photoshop, or Illustrator is helpful, but not essential. You can work in any medium you love — digital, traditional, mixed media, or something entirely experimental.
Q: How much does it cost?
The 21-Day Portfolio Boost Challenge is £99 (or the equivalent in your local currency).
Early bird spots are available for a limited time only priced at £79.
