Momiji x Bubi – Treeson Special Edition
Bubi Au Yeung and Momiji have collaborated on a brand new doll - the TREESON MOMIJI.
To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the iconic character, Treeson, award-winning designer, Bubi Au Yeung and UK doll company Momiji have joined forces to create a new limited edition release.
Originally from Hong Kong, Bubi Au Yeung grew up drawing, doodling, watching cartoons and reading comics. Beginning as an illustrator and multimedia designer, Bubi has since had the opportunity to work on projects with a diverse mix of companies, such as advertising agency TeamOne from USA, Crazylabel, Playlounge, Poketo from US and others.
She has created a series of illustrated stories, numerous characters, and limited figures, most notably Treeson, who was produced as her first vinyl figure in 2005, and quickly became a fans’ favorite around the world.
Having met the Hong Kong artist at Pictoplasma in 2014, Momiji were excited to collaborate with her on this special edition doll inspired by her TREESON character. The new limited edition release combines Treeson, a creature of the forest with a Momiji girl who represents a human soul. Treeson is known for the branch that sticks out from his heart:
I used to have nothing in my chest. Then one day, a tree branch was stabbed into my heart. Don’t worry, it doesn’t hurt. I’m used to it now. Don’t we all have something in our heart as we get older? I like my friends. I smile a lot. And I’m seldom bored. I am Treeson, the son of trees.
Only 500 pieces have been produced by Momiji, and each one is numbered on the base by hand.
