Secret Garden Postcards by Johanna Basford

Artist and illustrator Johanna Basford hails from Scotland and is renowned for her intricate hand drawn ink illustrations.

Describing herself as an “ink evangelist’ who prefers pens and pencils to pixels, much of her work features flora and fauna, inspired by her childhood in rural Scotland.

Following the success of her first book Secret Garden: An Inky Treasure Hunt and Colouring Book published by Laurence King last year, Johanna released Secret Garden: Postcards in January; a pocket sized collection of 20 detachable postcards of beautiful drawings from ‘the inky world of her Secret Garden’. It’s a gorgeous little book, with touches of gold on the cover and a soft fabric spine, giving it a high-end quality feel.

I hand draw all my images, preferring pens and pencils to pixels. I delight in smudgy finger prints, wobbly hand penned lines and the odd ink blot, these little imperfect.
