Featured Artist: Jessica Dance

Whether it’s the cold plastic of a mobile phone, or the scolding temperature of a burger and fries, Jessica Dance specialises in subverting the real world.

Jessica Dance is a textile artist and model maker that specialises in crafting models and props that are used across advertising campaigns, editorial commissions, and art installations; transforming everyday objects into illusory knitted super-realist versions that play with our tactile expectations and experiences. Jessica’s previous clients include Google, Mulberry, Creative Review, Vanity Fair, Selfridges, TimeOut, and many more.

Her practice isn’t confined to making objects. Particularly magical is Jessica’s ability to give a real emotional depth to the animated characters she creates; as can be seen within her commission for ITV the ‘Knitted Ad Breaks’, that resulted in a D&AD graphite pencil award. The ‘ad breaks’ were recreations of well known adverts, realised in knit.

Alongside her personal practice Jessica is also one half of creative duo ‘Get Mullered & Dance’, working with Director and Animator Robert Francis Muller.
