The AOI announces its winners for WIA 2015

The Association of Illustrators (AOI) has just announced its winners for the World Illustration Awards 2015.

Over 350 illustrators worldwide entered the awards, which were judged by a panel of pro’s including Jo Walker of Frankie Magazine, Timba Smits, Olaf Hajek and Inkygoodness director Lisa Hassell.

A dedicated exhibition at Somerset House opens next month to celebrate, showcasing the 16 shortlisted entries across categories that include Editorial, Advertising and Self Initiated.

The AOI has collaborated with the USA’s Directory of Illustration and Somerset House to create a more global representation of illustration and the work that will be presented is said to “recognise the exceptional work produced by illustrators… and promote illustration as an essential contributor to global visual culture.”

Highlights include Malika Favre for her BAFTA Film Awards brochures, João Fazenda for his Japanese folktale illustrations, and Studio MUTI for their interpretation of French novelist Jules Verne ‘Voyages Extraordinaires.’

The World Illustration Awards 2015 exhibition will run at Somerset House from 5 October – 1 November 2015.
