The Jaunt #013: Andrea Wan

Visual artist Andrea Wan is set to travel to the small Icelandic town of Seyðisfjörður to take part in The Jaunt this April.

Seyðisfjörður is steeped in natural beauty, surrounded by rugged terrain and mountains, and home to art residency Heima.

Andrea Wan was born in Hong Kong, raised in Vancouver, studied in Kolding, Denmark and now lives and works in Berlin. From an early age she was fascinated by stories, improvising her own narratives and recording these onto cassettes. As an artist she has created her own visual universe of bright colours, strange creatures and eerie and surreal surroundings.

Her trip to Iceland will be the 13th ‘jaunt’. Following in the footsteps of Rick Hedof, David Shillinglaw, Miss Lotion and Mike Perry to name a few. We’re huge fans of Andrea’s work and look forward to seeing the artwork she creates whilst on her trip.

If you’re based in Birmingham or the wider Midlands and would like the opportunity to find out more about the project and the accompanying book, we’d like to invite you to join us at PROVIDE on Friday 27th March for a short talk & book signing by the author Jeroen Smeets. More info here.
