Sha’an d’Anthes - AKA Furry Little Peach to her online followers - is an illustrator, creative YouTuber, and now author based out of Sydney, Australia.

Both colour and character are equally important in the creation of Furry Little Peach‘s charming illustrations. Subtle additions like cute little faces on inanimate objects add heaps of charm; there are always at least a few vibrant hues in each peachy palette. A bright shade of mustard yellow is one of Sha’an’s favourite colours to use. The happy hue sums up the joyful, light-hearted aesthetic she strives for.

With each house, island or volcano she illustrates with a face, Sha’an proves that anything can be gifted personality with a cheeky little smile.

Sha’an prides herself on how she displays her work – and in particular her process – online. She does so through a host of social media channels including her blog, Instagram feed and YouTube channel. Sha’an uses her online presence not only to promote her own work but to encourage creative curiosity in others.

Her website even features a FAQ section where she shares her thoughts on how to find your own unique illustrative style…“Developing my style has and will be a career-long journey for me. My advice would be to focus on making work that you like, which is true to your interests and values, and a style will become evident to others naturally. I think a lot of people try to use others’ work as compass for what to do with their own, and while that can be okay and an essential part of getting started, what usually ends up happening is that we too closely emulate someone else’s style and miss out on finding our own.”

“I think style is merely a confidence in making work in a certain way that is unique to you. Don’t obsess over it, don’t worry, just make things that make you happy.”

Her laid back approach keeps Sha’an’s work as an illustrator fresh. With no rigid drawing style or medium, Sha’an never shies away from experimenting with new materials. From paint to pixels, she has become comfortable creating in a whole host of different ways. With every medium she masters, Sha’an is becoming an increasingly multi-disciplined artist. It’s great to see her strive to share her knowledge with others along the way.

Sha’an’s latest project is a childhood dream come true as she recently released her debut picturebook. Zoom follows a young inventor and dreamer called Scout as he flies off into outer space in a rocket. Here he explores the many animals which make up our solar system before returning back home in time for bed. With this career milestone ticked off her list, we’re already curious about what Sha’an will do next. Whatever it is, we know she will will be sure to share it in  the most creative way possible.
