Glug Brum ‘Personality Types’ – 15.06.17: In Pictures
On Thursday 15th June we invited Birmingham's creative community to join us for a very special type-themed Glug Birmingham - and what an incredible turn out we had!
Curated by Birmingham art director & designer Luke Tonge, with support from WE ARE GOODNESS & Inkygoodness; Personality Types’ brought together an eclectic mix of talented speakers from Birmingham and beyond, united in their shared passion for type!
We were delighted to be joined by renowned creative talent Morag Myerscough, London based designer David Pearson, David Marshall and Elizabeth Ellis of The Counter Press, graphic designer and writer Sarah Hyndman, calligraphy infused lettering pro Ian Barnard & Birmingham based sign writer Seven9 Signs, who each delivered insightful, engaging and inspiring talks around the theme of type, discussing everything from freelancing to collaboration, and their creative process – from sign painting to large installation pieces; traditional calligraphy and letterpress.
Huge thanks to our generous sponsors Monotype for goodies & drinks; Awesome Merchandise for printing our colourful Glug totes and White Duck Editions for producing our super limited edition ‘FORWARD’ screen print featuring characters designed by our speakers – and of course everyone who joined us to get involved and watch the talks.
We’re super excited about the future of Glug Birmingham and we can’t wait to see you all again in October for our next event.
Thanks to Jonathan Cherry for capturing all the action on camera. Here’s a round-up of our favourite pictures from the night..
Keep an eye on the blog for our Glug Brum videos dropping next month – and a series of interviews with our speakers coming soon!
